About Us
How We Started
Founded in 2017 by Melissa Owen, Beacon for Hope serves as tribute to the memory of her sister lost to suicide in 2006.

An Emporia native, Melissa prides herself in being part of a close community that supports one another in times of victories as well as challenges.

Melissa resides in Emporia with her two children. Her support system of family and friends is of utmost importance to her. You will often see her out in the community enjoying the company of local community members sharing ideas of how to strengthen the community or enjoying a drive in her Mustang.

Beacon for Hope's lighthouse logo stands as a symbol of light and hope for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, who have struggled, and those who are currently struggling.
